Tip your hat to Darwin Chorale’s latest production;
Australian Horizons - Songs from the Bush to the Beach.
Enjoy a panorama of iconic ballads, standards from the Australian choral repertoire and the World Premiere performance of More Than Just A Home, written by local musician and actor, Yoris Wilson.
Director/MC Terry Annesley introduces works from national composers, other Territorians Ted Egan, Sara Storer, Kathy Mills and Nora Lewis and guest artists bush band Murphy & Friends along with country singer Jackie Izod.
Australian Horizons travels through the Dreamtime, around the campfire and into the present, capturing the beauty and rhythms of the land, colonial folk tunes which romanticise shearers, bush rangers and stockmen and contemporary songs inspired by resilience, character and defining moments in our history.
The 40 strong voices in Darwin Chorale’s uplifting tribute to our national soundscape, bring inspiring lyrics, beautiful, soaring harmonies and nostalgic sing-a-longs to the stage, in a patriotic performance also featuring the music of John Williamson, Eric Bogle, Graeme Connors, John Schumann, Peter Allen, Iva Davies, Colin Brumby, Tim Sexton, Graeme Morton, Stephen Leek, Ian Jefferson and more.
Throw your swag in the boot and make the Studio Theatre Darwin Entertainment Centre your destination for Darwin Chorale’s Australian Horizons – Songs from the Bush to the Beach, on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 September.
