Movement Collective Kinetic are coming to Darwin as part of a studio residency at TRACKS. The recently formed collective is a collaboration between Brisbane-based artists and community development workers. Kinetic will be holding two Dance and Movement workshops for expression and wellbeing in early February, that will be free and open to anyone who is interested.
Through experimenting with Dance and Movement, Kinetic will assist participants to experience self-expression, spontaneity, creativity and interaction. With weird and wonderful music and props, these fun activities in a supportive environment will encourage the development of an embodied sense of self and increase body awareness.
The brave and the shy, the old and the young, the silly and the serious will have the opportunity to make potentially profound connections with each other, their environment and themselves. Designed to encourage engagement from all age levels, it is both the perfect first time dance experience and an exciting new approach for the more experienced mover.
Kinetic hope that the workshop will act as a platform for sharing culture, stories and ideas prior to travelling on to Timor-Leste, strengthening creative links between Brisbane, Darwin and Timor-Leste.
Prepare to explore the possibilities of human movement through active participation in this innovative, insightful and thought provoking workshop!
