I drove a truck for short time in Darwin 1972 for a company owned by two men in their early 30's, Boland and Boyle. ( Often wondered where they are now). They had the Tarax soft drink distribution/ agency, and were situated just off the highway at the 9 or 11 mile peg - Can't remember.
My friends and I camped at Mindil Beach. There was nothing there those days.
Also remember the Parap theatre, betting shops and the brewery.
A Darwin Stubby was $2.00.
It was a very isolated but friendly frontier those days.
