The Italian Festival Darwin is on Saturday the 18th of May 2013.
A heady mixture of food, drinks, art, culture and wonderful entertainment, the festival celebrates all things Italian within our community.
To bring this all together the Italian Festival Association of Darwin has gathered local businesses, school groups, entertainers and the community to create the true essence of Italy right here in Darwin.
The site for the festival is unique in itself - Speaker’s Green in front of Parliament House, Bennett Park and the Chan Building.
This is the first time a large scale public event has been held here and the Italian Festival Association is proud to be working closely with The Speaker, NT Government and the Darwin City Council to make this happen.
The rich history, colour and spirit of Italy will showcased on this special day. The public will delight in delicious Italian food, perfect coffee and sweet gelati. Italian beverages will be flowing and food demonstrations with tastings of Italian products will delight everyone.
Fashion Parades, roving entertainers, art exhibitions, Italian cars and motorbikes and a photographic history of Darwin’s Italian community will be on display.
Combine this with children’s games and activities and local and interstate entertainers performing throughout the day on the main stage and you have a festival to remember.
