TRAVELLING FILM FESTIVAL RETURNS TO THE TERRITORY - DARWIN 2-5 FEBRUARY 2012

The Travelling Film Festival is on the road again; first stop for 2012 is Darwin 2-5 February, screening nine features and three shorts, from seven different countries at BC&C Darwin 5 Cinemas. The Travelling Film Festival once again treats regional audiences to the best of Australian and world cinema on the big screen.
We’re opening on a Thursday this year, 2 February, with the raucous and unmistakably Australian doco I’m Not Dead Yet - following the iconic country music singer Chad Morgan and his sixty years on the road, narrated by Oz rocker Tex Perkins. Special guest director Janine Hosking will introduce her film and take questions from the audience. Also screening on Opening Night is the short film Nullarbor - winner of the 2011 Yoram Gross Animation Awards, directed by Alister Lockhart and Patrick Sarell.

Closing Night film is the acclaimed Australian feature Burning Man – selected for Official Competition at Toronto Film Festival - this bold, humorous and heartbreaking film features a host of local talent including Bojana Novakovic, Kerry Fox and Rachael Griffiths and is directed by Jonathon Teplitzky (Better Than Sex and Getting Square). Screening with Burning Man is the short film Cropped - 2011 Dendy Award Finalist, directed by Dave Wade.
TFF is excited to announce a third Australian feature for TFF Darwin 2012 line-up - Toomelah, set in the NSW community of Toomelah, directed by Australian filmmaker Ivan Sen (Beneath Clouds). Toomelah was selected for Official Competition at Sydney Film Festival 2011 and Un Certain Regard at Cannes Film Festival 2011 and Ivan was recently awarded the prestigious UNESCO Prize at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

International selections from Sydney Film Festival 2011 include Italian comedy, The Salt of Life, directed by Gianni di Gregorio (Mid- August Lunch); award winning UK documentary Project Nim; romantic comedy from Buenos Aires Medianeras¬ (screens with short Two Laps); multi award winning psychological thriller Take Shelter and the action-packed family film, set in Rwanda, Africa United.

The 2012 line-up also offers an exclusive, pre-release screening of The Kid with a Bike, winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Film at Cannes Film Festival 2011, another masterful entry directed by the multi-award winning Dardenne brothers – not be missed!
